Another world-class ski resort "Mamison" may appear in the North Caucasus Federal district. On behalf of the Government the Ministry and the leadership of North Ossetia – Alania are working on a plan to create a resort. This was announced following a working trip of the first Deputy Minister of economic development of the Russian Federation Mikhail Babich to Karachay-Cherkessia, Ingushetia and North Ossetia–Alania.
Geographical proximity to successful ski resorts makes Mamison a good alternative for active recreation. The tourist flow only to the neighboring "Gudauri" and "Arkhyz" is more than 300,000 people per season, and demand exceeds supply. The ski season at Mamison can last from November to April, and there is also potential for building year-round trails.
The potential of the resort is estimated at 82 km of ski trails and 15 lifts. According to the results of the initial stage of its creation, it is planned to build more than 30 km of ski trails, 3 passenger suspended cable cars, and at least 2,000 places of accommodation. The resort has unique geographical and climatic features: the duration of the ski season from November to April, the possibility of organizing year-round skiing on the Zaramag glacier, a significant difference in altitude.
The implementation of the Mamison resort will create an additional "point of attraction" of international level in the North Caucasus, which, in turn, will have a positive impact on the indicators of social and economic development of the Republic.
During the working trip, several meetings were held, where issues of social and economic development of the regions, as well as the implementation of major infrastructure and industrial projects were discussed in detail. "The work is not easy, but together with the heads of the regions we hope to improve the social and economic situation in the North Caucasus and the attitude to the region," Mikhail Babich said.
In Ingushetia, they discussed in detail the problems of drinking water and sanitation, and touched upon issues of ensuring reliable and safe gas supply to the population. The resolution of these issues will have a direct impact on the standard of living in the Republic of Ingushetia.
They also visited the Dombay ski resort in Karachay-Cherkessia. They discussed the issues of its long-term development, noted the readiness of the Ministry to support the region in solving current and strategic problems of the resort.
It is worth reminding that from January 21, 2020, the powers of the Mineral Caucasus of Russia were transferred to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia
