The Caucasian resort "Arkhyz" in Karachay-Cherkessia hs resumed its work since July 18. On the territory of the tourist complex, the cable car lift is again available, hotels, restaurants and cafes are open. Earlier, the head of Karachay-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov announced the transition of the region to the third stage of lifting restrictions.

For the safety of guests and prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in public areas of the resort, the mask mode and social distance are still observed, regular disinfection of surfaces is carried out, and travel on cable cars is possible only for two people in the cabin.

In the new summer season, the resort focuses on the development of individual tourism. Hiking on mountain slopes has been developed for small groups of tourists and families with children. The most anticipated hike by tourists is the legendary Soviet Hiking route from Arkhyz to Krasnaya Polyana, designed for 8 days.

Rates for cable cars will remain at the last year level. In addition, there is a special rate on the lift for the participants of mountain trekking.

"Arkhyz is unique in that it is able to meet the needs of both trained tourists and those who are in the mountains for the first time. It combines recreation opportunities among the wild nature of the North Caucasus with comfort of the European level. Today, with the active participation of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the resort continues to grow: two cable cars and several new routes are being built at once, active negotiations are underway with potential investors, and relations with residents are being reset," the first Deputy Minister of economic development Mikhail Babich emphasizes.

The authority to manage the North Caucasus tourism cluster was transferred to the Ministry of Economic Development in early 2020 after the liquidation of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus. Since April, the Ministry has implemented an unprecedented set of measures to support small and medium-sized businesses during the pandemic, including in the field of tourism and services. The set includes preferential loans for working capital replenishment and employment retention, subsidies for coronavirus prevention and other support measures.
