Today, Deputy Minister of economic development Ilya Torosov has spoken at an online conference dedicated to the introduction of border carbon regulation by the European Commission.
"Russia has taken an active position on the climate track and initiated the necessary measures to create a national system for regulating greenhouse gas emissions. This will minimize possible risks for our economy," Ilya Torosov said.
He said that the draft Federal law on state regulation of greenhouse gas emissions developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and the draft strategy for long-term development with low greenhouse gas emissions until 2050 have already been submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation. Their adoption is expected before the end of the year.
The event took place at the "Business Russia" with support of Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation; among the participants were the Russian President's special envoy on climate R. Edelgeriev, as well as representatives of the federal executive authorities, the expert community and business.
