25 September 2020 8:28

The First Deputy Minister of economic development of the Russian Federation Mikhail Babich paid a working visit to the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. In Cherkessk, the capital of the region, he held a meeting with the Head of the Republic Rashid Temrezov, as well as an extended meeting with representatives of local authorities. The social and economic development of the region and its investment potential were discussed.

Mikhail Babich noted the need for close-knit joint work which will be aimed at minimizing the crisis consequences that arose due to the unstable epidemiological situation. He noted that the leadership of the country and the Republic, despite the difficult period, was able to provide the necessary support to business and the population of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Tourism can occupy a separate basic niche in the social and economic development of the region. The first Deputy Minister outlined the need to develop Dombay and Arkhyz, which have not only national, but also international recognition. The development of this area will give an impetus to the comprehensive development of the economy, increase investment attractiveness and create new jobs; all this will have a positive impact on the standard of living of the region's population.

Rashid Temrezov said that for the effective development of the region, it is also necessary to continue working to provide the Republic with municipal infrastructure. These problems are still "acute" on the social and economic agenda of the entire North Caucasus. The parties agreed to jointly develop a comprehensive plan to address issues of water disposal, water supply and energy in the region.

A separate topic of discussion was the implementation of a number of investment projects in the Republic in the field of tourism, agriculture and industry. The meeting participants also discussed new projects that are promising for implementation in the region. It was noted that investors are already interested in it, and preliminary negotiations are underway.

The coordinated work of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Government of Karachay-Cherkessia, the North Caucasus Development Corporation, as well as the resorts of the North Caucasus will increase the investment potential of the region.

The Head of Karachay-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov noted that over the entire period of cooperation, quite constructive business relations have been developed with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. He thanked Mikhail Babich for his support in solving social and economic issues of the Republic.

After the meeting, Mikhail Babich participated in laying the "first stone" of a large-scale investment project for the reconstruction of the meat processing enterprise "Kavkaz-Meat". The project operators will be "Stavropol Farmer" and "Kavkaz-meat", which are part of the "Damate" group of companies. This is one of the most important projects for the agro-industrial complex of the North Caucasus Federal district. It will give a significant boost to the development of animal husbandry and will create about 800 new jobs in agriculture, taking into account all livestock points and related enterprises involved in the work. The launch of the new high-tech production is scheduled for May 2021.

"The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia today is extremely interested in Russian and international investors coming to the North Caucasus republics, such as Damate, and that the production culture, the resource opportunities that they have, enter our republics for the development of the most modern production facilities here," Mikhail Babich said.

During the trip, the delegation also visited the company "Aquline", which is engaged in bottling of mineral water and soft drinks. The company is equipped with modern, high-tech production lines for filling and palletizing. The company provides 600 jobs and is one of the largest in the region.
