February 10, 2021 in Moscow, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov met with the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov.

During the meeting, the parties noted that, despite the limitations associated with the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection, economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan has demonstrated resilience to external challenges.

The bilateral trade turnover in January-November 2020 decreased by 4.6 % (to $ 17.2 billion) compared to the same period in 2019.

The parties pointed out that in 2020 the volumes and dynamics of mutual trade were also affected by anti-epidemic restrictions. As these restrictions are lifted and the situation normalizes in 2021, the losses of the previous year will be compensated, and the trade turnover between the countries will be able to reach a steady growth trajectory.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed in detail the issues of further bilateral cooperation and partnership within the EAEU.

In order to develop economic cooperation between the countries in bilateral and multilateral formats, an agreement was reached to organize regular contacts between the heads of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
