The Department of Analytical Support of Foreign Economic Activity was opened in the Ministry of Economic Development. The head of the new structure is Pavel Snisorenko who held various positions in the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The team also includes Aleksandr Zotin who previously worked for Kommersant Publishing House and RFTA, and Oleg Podomatko who had worked at investment bank J. P. Morgan Chase for more than 10 years.
The tasks assigned to the Department include monitoring and analysis of the foreign countries economies, world socio-economic processes, international trade, sanctions, tariff and non-tariff restrictions, the condition of financial and commodity markets, sectors of the world economy, as well as the impact of these factors on social and economic development of Russia.
The department interacts with international financial institutions: Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The scope of the new structure also includes international investment cooperation. The Department supports the work of the Russian part in the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission for Investment Cooperation in the selection and monitoring of investment projects.
